Dr. Raymond Ghajar is an Electrical engineer with over 30 years of professional and academic experience in the area of power and energy systems. His professional career spans companies across the globe in Canada (Ontario Hydro, Alberta Power), United States (Niagara Mohawk, Power Math, Distributed Energy), Jordan (ASTRA) and Lebanon.
He has been the Senior Policy Advisor at the Ministry of Energy and Water since 2007 where he leads a small group of experts responsible for the implementation of the energy policy and providing liaison with the Council of Ministers, special parliamentary and ministerial committees and international agencies (World Bank, IMF, UNDP, etc.).
Since 1995, Dr. Ghajar has been Professor of electrical engineering at the Lebanese American University (LAU) teaching and conducting research in the areas of renewable energy and power system economics. He also held several administrative positions at LAU as Vice President for Human Resources and University Services, Associate Dean and Interim Dean of Engineering. He authored numerous articles in leading international engineering journals, and has spoken and presented papers at conferences across the globe. Dr. Ghajar is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and a member of the Order of Engineers in Tripoli, Lebanon.
